For online events as well as hybrid events, your event website can host videoconferences when:
- attendees want to contact each other directly in the networking module
- attendees and / or partners organize meetings with each other
- attendees access Online Networking Tables
1. The videoconference feature
When a participant wants to communicate instantly with another participant, or a partner, for a meeting or a random conversation, they can use the videoconference tool of inwink.

- speak to other participants by clicking on the microphone icon at the bottom of the screen
- see and be seen by other participants by clicking on the camera icon at the bottom of the screen
- show / hide the videoconference discussion tab / videoconference participants tab on the right-hand side of the screen by clicking on the participants icon at the bottom of the screen
- share their screens by clicking on the screen icon at the bottom of the screen
- configure the audio input, video input and audio output by clicking on the configuration icon at the bottom of the screen

Up to 40 participants can join a conversation, though for better performances and comfort, we advise you to limit participation to a maximum 10 participants per videoconference.
When a participant joins a videoconference for the first time on your event website, they will need to allow your website to access their camera and microphone. Their browser will ask them to do so in a notification which will appear just below the address bar:
Allow access to camera and microphone in Chrome
Here are online help pages for major browsers if you accidentally block access to the camera and microphone:
By default, the camera is not enabled when a participant joins a new conversation.
2. inwink features using videoconference
The videoconference feature is used by the following features:
- networking
- meetings (networking meetings and business meetings)
- online networking tables
3. Compatibility
inwink uses an integrated solution called Vonage for videoconferences.
This solution uses a technology called WebRTC to encode and stream videos between users. It is supported by most major browsers on the market, including Safari, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, provided these browsers are up to date on the devices of your participants.
However, some companies may prevent WebRTC from working properly on their internal network. Here are the 2 solutions to make the videoconference feature work for these companies:
- ask their employees to use their personal Internet connection for the event
- ask the IT team of the company to allow WebRTC and Twilio for the event (documentation here)
