[Participant badge](https://help.inwink.com/events?hsLang=en#participant-badge) # Configure badge printing before your event and onsite on the day of the event ## Configure different badge templates and formats depending on whether badges are printed before the event or directly onsite on the day of the event. ### **Configure different badge templates depending on how badges are obtained** As an organizer, you can define **two different badge configurations for the same product**, depending on how participants obtain their badge: - **online**, before the event - **onsite**, during the event. This allows you to use **different formats or templates** depending on the printing context. For example: - an **A4 badge** when downloaded online, and an **A6 badge** when printed onsite - an **A4 pass** online, and a format adapted to a **thermal printer** onsite. --- ### **Configure the badge available online** The configuration of the badge available online **remains unchanged**. It is configured directly when creating the product. *➡️ For example, you can keep an A4 template suitable for standard printing when participants download or print their badge before the event.* --- ### **Configure the badge printed onsite** To use a different badge template for onsite printing, you can create a dedicated template from your event back office. Go to **Onsite \> Badges \> Badge templates**, then click the **“+”** button to create a new badge template. When configuring it, select the **“Template used by default onsite (Onsite)”** option if you want this template to be used as a priority for badges printed on the day of the event. ![](https://help.inwink.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-25-2026-03-17-14-7733-PM.png?width=1053&height=314&name=image-png-Sep-25-2026-03-17-14-7733-PM.png) You can then create and configure the template that best suits your onsite printing setup: A6, thermal printer, or any other required format.  ![](https://help.inwink.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-25-2026-03-17-35-9272-PM.png?width=1054&height=551&name=image-png-Sep-25-2026-03-17-35-9272-PM.png) *➡️ This Onsite template allows you to completely separate the badge printed onsite from the one available online.* --- ### **Which template is used for onsite printing?** When a badge is printed from Onsite, the system first checks whether a **specific Onsite template** has been configured. - If an Onsite template is configured, **it takes priority**. - If no specific Onsite template is available, the badge configuration defined at badge level is used. - If you only have one template, it continues to be used as before. Example: You have configured the following for your product: - one badge template for printing before the event - one badge template for printing onsite. Participants can use the A4 template for their online badge, while badges printed onsite will automatically use the A6 template configured in Onsite. The **“Onsite badge template (Onsite)”** field is also available in the view displaying all participants.
